Make poor people less poor
My research, and policy implementation experience, follows a multidisciplinary approach and focuses on how universal social protection schemes reduce stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination. Social protection services and policies usually focus on minimising the effects of an unequal society. Nonetheless, some countries, based on a resource scarcity reasoning, opt for targeted interventions. While this course of action makes sense based on fiscal concerns, it has major social implications: stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination are maintained and sometimes even augmented.
