Jerome Carlos Johnson is a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Texas. He is a 1986 honors graduate of Green B. Trimble Technical High School. He received an Associate of Applied Sciences in Management from Tarrant County College, in addition to an Associate of Applied Sciences in Marketing. Johnson received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at Arlington.
Johnson is very active in his community. He is a proud resident of the Highland Hills community, where his family has resided for 53 years. Johnson currently serves as President of the Highland Hills Neighborhood Association, a role he has held since 2015.

Johnson is the former host of the Opening Eyes and Opening Minds radio talk show on Fishbowl Radio Network, and currently is co-host of Talk of Life Show with Elma.
In 2016, Johnson founded the Lockett Family Charitable Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization named in honor of his maternal grandparents, Leroy "Red" Lockett and Magnolia Williams-Lockett. Since the inception of Lockett Foundation, the organization has provided winter coats to over 750 children and teens in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Lockett Foundation also stocks food pantries on the campuses of two elementary schools in Fort Worth, Texas.
Johnson is happily married to Debra Walton-Johnson, a longtime banking professional. Together, they have two children, Julian and Zaria.
