Be curious, not judgemental :-)

After I graduated from university as a clinical psychologist, I have been working with people with eating disorders and their caregivers in a social profit organisation. Togheter with +/- 40 volunteers we support people in Flanders on their way to recovery and inform our community about risk and protective factors. All of us have overcome an eating disorder ourselves (including myself) or are a relative of a person with an ED.

Besides this clinical work I'm teaching an introductionary course in Psychology for bachelor students in Social Work at a university college. During my traineeship as a teacher I have taught the course 'Social Psychology for Social Workers'. I'm very eager to learn more about the possibilities of online psychology courses, so I can broaden my own experience in blended and online learning and teaching in my favorite subject: psychology.

In my personal life I'd like to travel, read books, do some handicraft (crochet and knitting), be a volunteer and being in nature. My partner and I have adopted two cats and we live in the very jovial university city Leuven, which is located about 20 km from the capital of Belgium (which is Brussels).

Psychology Mentors, Inspirations, and Influences

  • Inspiring therapist: through his works he taught me to listen to existential themes
  • One of my inspiring professors at university: she's one of the few female professors there. What I admire most about her, is that she works hard and always remains compassionate. She founded the first online course in counseling existential well-being (it also is available in English).
  • Marleen Heylen
    Catholic University College Leuven (KHL)
During my first year of higher education I met Marleen as one of the most inspiring lecturers. She inspired me to study psychology and become a lecturer myself. Now I'm blessed to have her as a motivating colleague in our 'psychology team'. She is an expert in contextual treatment (Nagy).
  • Vera Hoorens
    Katholieke Universiteit Leuven
My first encounter with social psychology and later on with social cognition was fascinating thanks to Prof. Hoorens.
