Spandan Ghosh
I am a postgraduate in English literature and language from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India. I have been raised in a family where both of my parents are employees of the corporate world, while my perusal of academia has been honed by my maternal grandfather. On a parallel note, my university was the first institution in India to establish the first department of psychology in the year 1916.
The world at this present moment needs rigorous introspection and I believe this can only be achieved through the understanding of social sciences.
My interest, particularly in the field of humanities, erupted during my school days when I used to spend hours observing what is going around. I took up this discipline and realized that literature amalgamates every other human science with all its complexities. It empowers one to think and pierce through what is visible to reveal humans as being both beautiful and dreadful.
WORLDVIEW: My notions about the world are dominated by ideas of power politics, absurdist philosophy, and existentialism. I see myself as a realist. Drawing my inspiration from the works of Michel Foucault and Slavoj Zizek, I see the world through the prism of power. The only remedy that one can offer each other is love.
INTERESTS: My interest from the field of literature branches out into cultural studies, philosophy, psychology, media studies, and quantum social science. I also have a specific fascination with psychoanalysis. Moreover, I see myself as a cinema enthusiast. My favorite cinema is the epic war film Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola.
OBJECTIVE: I see myself as an academician soon. I believe that imparting education is one of the most crucial civil services that one can engage into. Education is tertiary while providing clothes is secondary and eradicating hunger is the primary. I consider that education liberates human thinking making us acceptant of each other. I have been engaged in private tutoring for the last 4 years and the resultant growth is mutual. I nourish high school children and college students teaching them the virtue of acceptance which goes beyond the ideas of tolerance.
Moreover, I am also a creative writer. I am a part of an online e-magazine called The Leaky Pot that deals with critical thinking. My role is that of an editor. We publish articles that range from the field of art, science, politics, and film to alternative journalism.
Here is the link to the Facebook page of The Leaky Pot where you will find links to a host of mind-boggling articles:

Here is the link of a short story that I wrote back in 2016, which deals with a boy in a hyperreal world:

For the last two years, I have also engaged myself as a freelance writer, serving numerous digital marketing companies and writing under different niches. As a writer, my skill is my persuasive writing. I am adept in three writing styles – journalistic, didactic, and personal or conversational style.
HOBBY: I have chosen photography as my hobby, for which I have received prior recognition. I am generally more interested in street photography. You will find the photos that I have shot in the ‘Image Gallery’ section.
IN A NUTSHELL: My ideas about the world and my field of study equips me with humility. I find myself privileged enough to seek academia as a professional discipline. My quest in life is to seek meaning in learning and to disseminate knowledge while empowering students to think for themselves.
