Sarah Emery-Crum
Hi! I'm Sarah, and I've always been fascinated by humanity and why we act and behave the way we do. As a product manager at a software startup, I have to regularly think about how and why our customers behave the way they do on our app, so we can prioritize what is most important to spend our time on. While earning my degree in Strategic Communication (aka public relations and communication), I learned how to be a strong communicator to a variety of audiences and interests.
What I get most passionate about, though is human behavior: how it has or hasn't changed throughout history, how different backgrounds can impact our behavior in certain situations, and how media from scrapbooks to Facebook influence how we see ourselves, each other, and our world. I love learning new things, and I wanted to take Coursera's Social Psychology course as a way to dive into the research and theories behind people and our communities. Along with the professional and social benefits of learning more about psychology, I'll hopefully even learn more about myself and how/why I think and act the way I do!
In my free time, I love spending time with my husband, family, and friends, along with genealogy, video games, watching sports, doing puzzles, and eating dessert.
