BIOGRAPHY
Mahfuz Ahmed is a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at Sylhet Government Women’s College, affiliated with the National University of Bangladesh. He earned his Bachelor of Social Science (Honours) in Social Work from Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) in 2023. His career reflects a commitment to academic research and grassroots-level social engagement. He teaches undergraduate courses, supervises fieldwork, and assists with examinations. Previously, he worked as a Childcare Officer at New Popular Diagnostic & Consultation Center, supporting children with ADHD and ASD in coordination with healthcare teams. He also interned as a Healthcare Social Worker at the Family Planning Association of Bangladesh (FPAB), conducting psychosocial assessments, counseling sessions, and awareness programs. As a Youth Leader in the LEAD Bangladesh project, he designed and implemented One Nutrition One Nation, a Social Action Plan to enhance maternal healthcare and nutrition. He coordinated volunteers at the 2nd International Conference on Social Work and Sustainable Social Development (ICSWSSD 2023) and was active in the Shahjalal University Debating Society (SUDS). He has presented at national and international conferences and completed advanced research training through a 60-hour program by the SUST Research Center under the Ministry of Planning. His goal is to pursue a PhD in Social Work and contribute to social justice, women’s empowerment, child welfare, and evidence-based public policy.
