After starting college, I studied Astrophysics for four years before realizing that I was far more interested in people than the stars. I got my undergraduate degree in History, specializing in Medieval British History, with a minor in Archaeology. I then went to graduate school to do coursework in Curriculum and Instruction and get licensed to teach social science for 5th - 12th grades. I also received a teaching certificate for gifted education and talent development. After teaching for several years I felt that my professional education was lacking and began to learn more about sociology and social psychology to help me better understand and address the issues that prevented many of my students from being mentally and emotionally present in the classroom.

I currently work as a professional artist while raising a young son with my supportive husband,
