support local talent to reach their collective & individual potential
For a long time my passion has been to work and live in developing countries and in 1990 I enrolled in medical school at Erasmus University Rotterdam in the Netherlands. In 1996 I obtained my medical degree and in 1999 I completed my training in Tropical Medicine at the School of Public Health (NSPH in Utrecht).
Soon after I worked as a short-term volunteer doctor and instructor at a rural health clinic near Hydrabad, India. After my first child was born, I went to work as a resident doctor at Murambinda Hospital in rural Zimbabwe. There I worked for 2 years, gaining experience in the diversity of pathology seen at a rural hospital and experiencing the devastation of HIV when no treatment was available. After the birth of my second child me and my family went and settled in Macha, Zambia, where I worked as residential doctor and research associate, later becoming the Clinical Research Director of the Macha Research Trust. In 2013 I obtained my PhD at the department of Medical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases and the department of Virology, with my thesis focusing on 'Pediatric HIV service delivery in rural Zambia'. Currently I live with my family in Zimbabwe.

Description
For the past 17 years I have been working as a medical doctor, combined with a clinical research focus for the past ten years. During that time, I have been primarily been involved in HIV care provision, and directed the implementation of research projects in Macha, Zambia, supervised teams of local staff as well as assisted international staff to carry out studies. I have collaborated with several institutions in Zambia and internationally and participated in several research projects that have been successfully completed. In addition I have implemented and coordinated a Comprehensive Community Care program (Triple-C) that focused on strengthening PMTCT, VCT and EID services within the rural Macha Hospital catchment area. I have a keen interest in HIV service delivery and access to care for the less privileged. My medical training and my experience as medical doctor and clinical researcher will enable me to participate meaningfully in an organization that has a focus on HIV research, program implementation and clinical service delivery.
