Keep going.

I am a wife to one, and a homeschooling mother to three. I am taking Coursera courses to test my ability to keep up with a courseload without neglecting my current commitments.

I developed an interest in psychology as a kid. My family struggled with mental health issues, and I spent my childhood trying to figure out what made people do the things they did, and if I could do anything to influence the way they treated me (Is it my fault? If so, what can I do about it?). My first introduction to the subject was in coming across the Psychology entry in my dad's 1962 Encyclopedia Brittanica. Of course, that entry listed most disorders as a subset of schizophrenia. I was happy to find, as a teen, that psychology had grown a bit in the 30 years since that Encyclopedia had been published.

I chose the Social Psychology course, because most psychology courses focus on disorders and maladaptive behaviors, and it was quite refreshing to take a course that focused on typical behaviors to which we can all relate. I have actually found some answers I had been seeking, tucked away in this interesting free course. I once again feel that excitement I had as a kid, exploring this still-quite-unknown cross between Science and the Humanities.

My other hobbies are: learning languages until I get bored and start studying a different language; true crime; hating fiction authors for writing the novels I should have written; being a student alongside my kids in every subject they take - I even buy an additional workbook for myself, when applicable; interrupting my husband's favorite shows to wonder aloud about things that don't matter in the least.
