A desire for life long learning will serve us well now & the future
I'm studying Social Psychology to continue to learn about myself and improve my relationships. I hope to use this knowledge to help me build my business, Factory Direct Electric Bikes. While I sell the majority of electric bikes from my website, USAebikes.com, many customers call with questions trying to ensure they are making the right decision. I enjoy the social contact and my business is helping the environment and I am promoting my clients health through exercise and maintaining a healthy weight.
My working life in Food Service as a chef and manager has afforded me a lot of opportunity to work with people and organizations and develop social skills and help people, but that part of my life is winding down.
As a creative and social outlet I joined Second Life or SL as we called it, an online virtual world as an overly handsome avatar named Daniel Hesse. Working with an ambitious young lady from Boston, Azar Kazan, revealmagazine.blogspot.com, we developed a Online magazine called Reveal. I went on to inherit the magazine and published 12 issues of it in 2006/2007.
Please see the file in the section for a sample issues.
From 1977 to now, my wife Linda and I devoted our time and energy to foster and adopted children. The first child we helped raise was my sister Mary, who was with us from the age of 11 until she entered college. Other children included troubled teens, toddlers who had been abused and neglected and several infants.
After my sister went off to college and later graduate school, my wife started a day care for bright children in Santa Barbara, CA. The daycare grew to 11 children and I joined her in the business during a break in my food service career.
Since my late teens, I have been an avid amateur photographer. I started with 35 mm black and white film and moved to medium and 4x5 view cameras. I progressed from darkroom development and printing to digital processing using Photoshop. Samples available in the file section
I had some very fulfilling jobs working in retirement communities as a Food Service Director until my early retirement last year and my current association as a independent dealer for Prodeco Technologies.
I have a few samples of my work such as photographs and a magazine I co-created and later owned and editied. Please look at my web site USAebikes.com and think about an electric bike as economical transportation that is better for the environment than an automobile. I believe, since heart disease is still a major problem in adults, riding a bike, either electric or pedal powered into our older adulthood will help keep us healthy. Sales at my small business are increasing over 50% per year, and my biggest problem is the Prodeco factory in south Florida can't keep up with demand. I use my name on my web site and in all the advertising I do. Even my business email contains my whole name, in the belief that customers now want to know who they are working with. The electric bicycle is the world's most popular EV or electrical vehicle. China accounts for the majority but Europe is not far behind. Electric bikes are becoming mainstream in many parts of the USA and getting more popular each year.

Description
I'm currently working part time in my own business selling electric bicycles from home and on an internet site. The ideal position for me would be a farm or home that needs a long term caretaker. I can pay utilities by continuing my business income. I would also consider child or senior care position in exchange for a 2 bedroom cottage or apartment. I am experienced in dog training and animal care. Long term live in position. 1-3 years would be ideal but will consider shorter assignments. Another possibility would be to run a food service operation such as a bed and breakfast of a roadside cafe' " Electric Bike Cafe' " I envision a partnership, a coffee house restaurant and bike store in a storefront or former service station on a scenic highway.
