Florien M. Cramwinckel
I’m a passionate social psychological researcher, and my main interest lies in the area of reactions to morally motivated others. My PhD-project focuses on the self-threat that people experience when they are confronted with moral superior others, and the (negative) reactions these confrontations evoke. Examples of research questions that have grabbed my attention over the last few years are: “Why don’t we applaud those who try to do the right thing?, “Why do people dislike vegetarians?” and “Why do people pressure others into drinking?”. I investigate these and other questions by using innovative social psychological experiments. On a more personal level, I love spending time with my family, doing yoga (2-3 times a week) and running (2 times a week). Furthermore, I am an active volunteer for the COC, an organization that advocates LGBT-rights (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered persons). In this capacity, I have given over a hundred guest lectures about sexual diversity and am the chair of around 40 volunteers.
