Living life to the best of my ability while helping others

Years ago, while I was earning my degree as a graphic designer, I fell in love with the very basic psychology of art and design. At the time I wanted to know and understand why and how illusions worked especially when designing a variety of pieces from advertisements to simple business cards. Today I am part of a group who are in the starting phases of building a non-profit organization to help survivors of sexual violence's and/or have been trafficked and exploited. The impacts of why or how trauma affects our way of thinking, doing things and motivations is extremely important and intriguing to me. I believe that in theory, if we can gain a better understanding of our thought process, and the influences of changes in them, we may be able to come up with better opportunities for those who suffer various types of mental illnesses caused from various traumas to work through their negative mental health status and turn them into productive and positive outcomes.

I am a wife, a mother and a grandmother with a lifetime of experiences in a variety of traumas. When developing this non-profit organization, I discovered that many people who have gone through traumas such as these have a variety of issues that created a mask over the root causes of their behaviors. In order to help me better understand why we are missing that I needed to dig a little deeper into what are possible causes for some of the other behaviors. I have chosen to study a variety of types of psychology such as psychology first aid, psychology 101 and currently social psychology while also working with other types of incite from traumas such as being trained to be a victim's advocate, and trained in domestic violence, human trafficking and suicide prevention. My heart truly goes out to those who are survivors of a variety of traumas and if I can better help in any way that is my goal.

I love the beach, the mountains and the in between. I love photography even though I do not know much about it I find I prefer to see things from behind the camera as appose to being in front of the camera. I love to, paint, draw, hike, walk, watch my grandkids play at the park and sit somewhere near water and listen to the sounds of it. Even though I haven't done much of it I do like adventures and exploring. I love to travel and would love to be able to do more of it in the near future. For my down time I like to walk near the river or just go on long drives.
