In case you do not know about earth hour already, earth hour is a time (March 29, starting at 8:00 pm) when people all over the world are turning off their electricity/lights to show that it is possible for individuals, working together, to have an impact on global climate change. You can learn more about it at:

http://www.earthhour.org/

The web site says that last year over 2 million people in Sydney, Australia, turned off their lights.

I just found out that you can pass the word around and even track whether people sign up with you (e.g., my personal sign up page is http://www.earthhour.org/user/mRhX). I'm sure this could be a study (e.g., send out different messages and see which message gets the most people to sign up).

I'm sending this note, however, to encourage you to tell others about this. I told a couple of environmental groups on campus, and one of them is going to post signs in the resident halls and get RAs involved to encourage students to participate.

-Janet
