Dear Colleagues,

You are invited to submit a poster for the newly-formed Society for the Study of Motivation’s (SSM’s) first conference to be held prior to, and in
affiliation with, the 20th Annual Convention of the Association for Psychological Science (APS).

The SSM conference will take place on the 22nd of May, immediately followed by the APS convention from the 23rd to 25th of May 2008. Both the
conference and convention will be located in the Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, Chicago, Illinois.

The SSM program will include two invited presentations, five symposia, and a poster session. Arie Kruglanski and Judith Harackiewicz will present invited talks. Symposia will cover motivation research from the following
perspectives: neuroscience, personality and individual differences, self-determination theory, cognition, and application. A special round-table discussion will concern motivation and its relationships with arousal, cognition, and emotion.

Poster submissions will be accepted online at the SSM web site

http://www.thessm.org/conference2008.php

until April 15, 2008. Although submissions will be accepted until April 15, the SSM Program Committee will attempt to provide feedback within two weeks of the date at which submissions are received, allowing time for travel and other plans.

Complete details for the SSM conference, including registration information, session topics, and presentation summaries are available on
the web site.

We look forward to seeing you in Chicago!
