Dear Colleagues,

The Department of Psychology at Cleveland State University invites applications and nominations for the position of Department Chairperson beginning Fall Semester 2008.

Duties: Oversees department, including financial management, supervision of faculty, staff, and student employees, addressing space and equipment issues as needed, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise student research, work to secure external resources for the department, pursue a research agenda, and provide service to the department, college, and university.

Minimum qualifications: A Ph.D. in Psychology, scholarly credentials and experience commensurate with a tenured appointment at the rank of Full Professor or Associate Professor, commitment to undergraduate and graduate education, a strong record of scholarship and teaching.

Preferred qualifications: Preference will be given to applicants with research and teaching experience in areas associated with adult development and aging, experience obtaining externally funded grants and current grant funding, and mentoring doctoral-level students. Experience with academic administrative leadership is also preferred.

The Department of Psychology has a dedicated faculty of 21 full-time doctoral level faculty members. The Department supports approximately 380 undergraduate majors, over 100 full-time graduate students in five master’s degree programs (Clinical, Experimental Research, Consumer/Industrial Research, School Psychology, and Diversity Management), and is developing a Ph.D. program in Adult Development and Aging in collaboration with the University of Akron.

Salary is commensurate with experience.
