A post-doctoral research fellowship is available at the University of Queensland (Australia) from January 2008 for up to two years. The successful candidate will work closely with grant holders (Dr. Matthew Hornsey and Professor Jolanda Jetten) to examine dynamics within groups. Research projects include (but are not limited to) the study of individual behaviour within groups and builds on recent research on the consequences of group-directed criticism and within group deviance, the relationship between individuality, group belonging and well being, and research on normative influence and content of social identity.

Candidates should have, or be about to submit, a PhD in social psychology. Key skills involve expertise in conducting experimental social psychological research (development of research design, data collection, data analysis and writing up of research for publications). Duties include: designing studies, running studies, data management and statistical analyses, writing academic papers and presenting at relevant conferences. The candidate should have a record of publication and research in social psychology. Other relevant abilities are good social skills and the capacity to work independently and as part of a team. The candidate will also become part of the Centre for Research on Group Processes (CRGP, see http://www.psy.uq.edu.au/research/crgp/) and is expected to contribute to ongoing research.

Salary starting from AUS $68,600.05 p.a. This salary package consists of: base salary of AUS $58,632.52 per annum, plus employer superannuation of 17% of salary. An employee superannuation contribution of 7% of salary is mandatory. This may be salary sacrificed from pre-tax earnings.
