The Initiative for Investigation of Race Matters and Underrepresented Minority Faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology seeks a Post-Doctoral Associate or Visiting Scholar, starting as soon as possible. The person will work on a one- to two-year research effort to document and assess the experiences of underrepresented minority faculty at MIT. The position requires training in the study of organizations, occupations, work, and/or education, and experience in the collection and evaluation of qualitative data in organizations, with a specific emphasis on issues of race and ethnicity in the workplace. The principal responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to work with the Race Initiative Team to develop an analytic framework for assessing issues of race and ethnicity in faculty processes at MIT, to design a research plan to collect the relevant qualitative and quantitative data, and to play a leading role in the collection, analysis, and presentation of the findings.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a Ph.D. a relevant social science field; qualitative research experience, and good communications and project management skills.

This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal for an additional year.
