Position:
Assistant Professor in Sport Management (tenure accruing position). The University of Florida (UF) invites applications and nominations for a sport management faculty position at the assistant professor rank. As a member of the Association of American Universities and the flagship institution in Florida, UF (http://www.ufl.edu) is a Land-Grant and Sea-Grant institution, encompassing virtually all academic and professional disciplines, with an enrollment of more than 48,000 students. The academic environment is rich in research and professional opportunities in the sport industry. For instance, Florida is the home of recent NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB championship teams, Grapefruit League MLB spring training teams, PGA and LPGA headquarters, Daytona NASCAR Racetrack, Disney Wide World Sport Complex, and a variety of recreational sports. UF men’s basketball and football teams are currently the reigning national champions of NCAA Division I institutions.

Responsibilities:
• Professionally prepare and mentor Ph.D., Master’s, and Undergraduate students majoring in sport management; supervise student field experiences; maintain an active research agenda with a focused research line that results in continued scholarly achievement and external grant funding; and engage in professional service activities.
• Candidates must be able to teach two or more of the following graduate and undergraduate courses within the sport management curriculum: sport marketing, sport consumer behavior, sport finance, event management, facility management, and organizational behavior.
• Candidates must be capable of independently directing Ph.D. dissertations and Master’s theses.

Qualifications:
• Earned doctorate in sport management or related field of study; established or emerging scholar in sport management with an active research agenda; and committed to excellence in higher education teaching and service.

Salary:
• Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Effective Date of Employment:
• August 16, 2007. This is a 9-month appointment with the opportunity for summer employment.
