Posted by: Elizabeth Jennings
Title/Position: Research Program Assistant
School/Organization: Heterodox Academy
Sent to listserv of: SESP, SPSSI
Date posted: April 9th, 2021

Heterodox Academy (HxA) is accepting proposals for its Increasing Open Inquiry on College Campuses Research Grant. This $30,000 grant specifically funds research of interventions that might increase college students’ empathy and perspective-taking, intellectual humility, curiosity, or open-minded cognition, or that might decrease their self-censorship. Applications for this grant are due May 7, 2021, and the studies it funds need to take place in the 2021-2022 academic year.

Eligibility:

Principal Investigators need to be professors at an accredited, 501(c)(3), U.S. college or university with theoretical and research expertise on empathy or perspective-taking, intellectual humility, curiosity, open-minded cognition, or self-censorship. Other researchers with such expertise, like graduate students, postdocs, and faculty at non-U.S. institutions, can be collaborators on these proposals.

For more information about this grant and to apply for it, visit:

HxA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that aims to improve the quality of research and education in universities by increasing open inquiry, viewpoint diversity, and constructive disagreement.
