The University of Massachusetts Lowell Department of Psychology invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions (rank open) to be filled for September 2006.
The first position is in Behavioral, Cognitive, or Cognitive-Developmental Psychology with a specialization in the study of disability. We are especially interested in candidates whose work emphasizes developmental disabilities (e.g., autism, mental retardation, dementia) in childhood and/or adulthood, and whose interests include applications in educational or community settings. The Department has an undergraduate specialization in disabilities and offers an online graduate certificate in autism.
The second position is in Health Psychology. We are especially interested in candidates whose work emphasizes biological psychology, psychophysiology, or neuropsychology, and who recognize the importance of a biopsychosocial model in understanding human health behavior and addressing health disparities.
The third faculty position is in Organizational Psychology. We are especially interested in candidates whose work emphasizes organizational administration, work organization, and/or organization development and change. We particularly value scholarship that is relevant to diverse populations and that can contribute to community well-being.
The Department has an innovative master’s program in Community Social Psychology and strong ties to the community of Lowell, a mid-sized city with a large and diverse immigrant population located 25 miles northwest of Boston. The University and the Department are supportive of individuals with an interest in and ability to engage in interdisciplinary research. Prior teaching experience is desirable. Candidates should be prepared to teach lower-level undergraduate and graduate psychology courses as well as advanced courses within their specialty area and to promote research opportunities for students. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Psychology (or equivalent) and must be involved in an active program of research with publication in peer-reviewed journals.
The Search Committees will begin reviewing applications no later than December 1, 2005 and will continue until the positions are filled. In your cover letter, identify the position for which you are applying and submit your vita, statements of teaching philosophy and research interests, listing of references, and representative reprints. Candidates must also arrange for the mailing of at least three letters of recommendation.
