We are seeking to appoint a social psychologist to further strengthen the Department’s research profile. You will join a successful team of social psychologists who pride themselves on the diversity of methods they embrace and their theory-driven approach to real world concerns. Our research is organised around an ethic of social responsibility and covers diverse themes such as sustainability, social inclusion, justice, conflict and conflict resolution. We would welcome applications from researchers across the sub discipline -- from social identity theorists to discursive psychologists, from researchers on social cognition to researchers of social interaction -- who share our vision and whose research will complement our existing strengths.

The Department of Psychology at Lancaster has a core complement of 27 members of academic staff and a thriving community of postdoctoral researchers and PhD students. The Department is well resourced with numerous facilities of relevance to social psychology research, including social psychology laboratories housing 2 video observation and editing suites, 3 Tobii eye-trackers, and Polhemus and XSens movement capture technology.

You should be an excellent researcher with internationally recognised publications and evidence of potential for securing external research funding. You will also be able to demonstrate how your research could have a significant impact on policy and practice outside of academia over the course of the next decade. You will be expected to make a significant contribution to the Department’s research activities, and you are also expected to support the Department’s teaching in social psychology at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

Lancaster University is a top 10 UK University. The quality of the Department’s international research is mirrored by the quality of its teaching (e.g., The Telegraph currently features Lancaster as a top-10 UK undergraduate psychology course). The Department’s undergraduate provision and community is thriving and the postgraduate provision includes ESRC-recognised PhD and Masters programmes.

Informal enquiries are welcome and should be addressed to Prof Charlie Lewis (email: c.lewis@lancaster.ac.uk; Tel: 01524 593822). Further information about the Department is available at:
