2-YEAR VISITING POSITION(S) IN SOCIAL OR COGNITIVE PSYCHOLOGY: The Union College Department of Psychology is inviting applications for a 2-year Visiting Assistant Professor position, beginning September 2012. A second two-year visiting position may also be available. There is a possibility that both positions could be extended past two years. A strong program of research and a commitment to undergraduate teaching are necessary. Teaching responsibilities would include some combination of introductory psychology, statistics, research methods, and basic and upper-level courses in either social psychology or cognitive psychology. Ability to teach courses in cross-cultural/diversity psychology, psychology of language, or sensation/perception is desirable. Ph.D. by appointment date preferred.

Union is a small, private college founded in 1795 with a long history of excellence in the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering. It is also about an hour from the Adirondack Mountains and about three hours from Boston and New York City. Teaching load is two courses per trimester. The College and Department are concerned with excellence in teaching and ability to involve students in an ongoing program of research and to work with a diverse student population.

Interested candidates should send an application letter, C.V., statements of teaching and research interests, three letters of recommendation, and any evidence of scholarship and teaching skills, including course evaluations if available, to Suzanne Benack at psychsearch@union.edu. If you prefer to submit hard copies of materials, send them to Suzanne Benack, Department of Psychology, Union College, Schenectady, NY, 12308. Questions may be emailed to Suzanne Benack at benacks@union.edu. Applications will be reviewed starting January 20, until the position is filled.
