**Mentoring Session for Science Students at APA Convention**

Dear science-oriented graduate students,

The American Psychological Association Science Student Council would like to encourage science-oriented graduate students to attend an informal mentorship event during this year's APA Convention in Washington, DC. Sponsored by the Board of Scientific Affairs, this social hour is a valuable opportunity for students who are interested in a research career to receive professional advice and guidance from accomplished scientists in their area of research. No preregistration is necessary.

The event will be held on Friday, August 5, 12-12:50pm, in the Grand Ballroom North of the Renaissance Hotel, 999 Ninth Street NW, Washington, DC. This hotel is across Mt Vernon Square from the south (Mt Vernon Place) entrance of the Convention Center. To get there, walk across Mt Vernon Square toward the right-hand side. The hotel is at the corner of K Street & 9th Street NW.

Students will first meet in small groups of 7 students at a time with a scientist in their specific research area, followed by time to interact with all scientists in attendance. The following scientists will serve as mentors for the selected research areas:

Biopsychology/Behavioral Neuroscience: Charles T. Snowdon (University of Wisconsin)

Developmental/Cognitive: Kathryn A. Hirsh-Pasek (Temple University)

Social: Susan T. Fiske (Princeton University)

Health: Kenneth Sher (University of Missouri)

Clinical: David H. Barlow (Boston University)

Clinical: June Tangney (George Mason University)

Industrial/Organizational and Quantitative/Measurement: Kristopher J. Preacher (University of Kansas)

In addition, other sessions that we have organized for science-oriented students are described in this article:

We look forward to seeing you in Washington, DC!

Sincerely,
APA Science Student Council
