Here at UMass/Boston, we have for several years been recruiting research participants using "blast" emails to the whole campus, thereby getting more diverse samples than using just the Psychology Department subject pool.
However, just recently the Dean of Students unilaterally decided this is bad and has stopped researchers from using blast emails.
If you use this blast email procedure at your university to recruit participants, I would greatly appreciate it if you would let me know.
