Sent to listserv of: SPSP
Date posted: August 3rd, 2010

Professor Patrick Gaudreau would like to encourage a candidate with demonstrated leadership skills and a high standard of scholarly achievement in psychological science to apply to the Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships (Vanier CGS). This program is designed to attract and retain world-class doctoral students by offering them a significant financial award to assist them during their studies at Canadian universities. Interested candidates should contact Prof Gaudreau as soon as possible. Details about the Vanier CGS can be found online:

http://www.vanier.gc.ca/hp-pa-eng.shtml

Prof Gaudreau performs research on achievement, motivation, and the regulation of action in the school and sport domains. He holds three research grants from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada to conduct research on achievement goals, perfectionism, and the leisure-oriented use of laptop computers during class time in wireless classrooms. The mission and value of his research lab are described on his web site. A detailed description of his research laboratory and publications is available online:

http://www.socialsciences.uottawa.ca/lamra/eng/

Prof Gaudreau considers candidates that are eligible for admission in the doctoral program in experimental psychology only if they show intrinsic interest for research related to self-determination theory, achievement goal theory, stress and coping, or perfectionism. Eligibility criteria can be found on the School of Psychology web site:

http://www.socialsciences.uottawa.ca/psy/eng/documents/Infotocandidates07-2009.pdf

Candidates with strong training in research methods and multivariate statistics will be strongly considered. Significant research experience (publications, poster presentations, RA), excellent academic standing, and previous leadership activities-achievements are very important to be nominated as a potential candidate for a Vanier CGS by the University of Ottawa. International students are encouraged to apply.

Please read all the details and eligibility criteria of the Vanier CGS before contacting Prof Gaudreau. Please contact Prof Gaudreau as soon as possible because the University of Ottawa will have to be informed of your intention to apply to the Vanier CGS as soon as possible.
