Social Psychology (Assistant Professor) position (# 4675). The Department of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro invites applications for a tenure-track position in Social Psychology, broadly defined (Assistant Professor level), to begin August 1, 2011. The Department of Psychology consists of 23 full-time faculty and offers a B.A. in psychology and the Ph.D. in clinical, cognitive, developmental, and social psychology (See http://psychology.uncg.edu for more information). All applicants should have a clear commitment to graduate and undergraduate teaching and show evidence of a strong independent research program. We are especially interested in individuals who will complement the research interests of existing faculty in social cognition (including judgment and decision making, social judgment, and emotion) or in the application of basic social psychological research to social problems (e.g., conflict and aggression, risky behavior). Candidates must hold or anticipate a Ph.D. by August 1, 2011 and should have potential for securing external funding. Applicants with strong quantitative skills are especially encouraged to apply. More information may be obtained from Dr. Paul Silvia, Chair of the Social Search Committee (email: p_silvia@uncg.edu). Applicants should send a cover letter, a vita, a detailed description of their research program, at least three representative reprints or preprints, and a statement of teaching interests and teaching philosophy to: Chair of the Social Search committee, Department of Psychology, UNCG, PO Box 26170, Greensboro, NC 27402-6170. Applicants should have three reference letters sent separately. Review of the applications will begin on October 18, 2010 and continue until the position is filled. UNC Greensboro is especially proud of the diversity of its student body and we seek to attract an equally diverse applicant pool for this position, including women and members of minority groups. We are an EEO/AA employer with a strong commitment to increasing faculty diversity.
