The Department of Psychology at Lehigh University (Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, USA) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in social psychology within the research labs of Dominic Packer and Gordon Moskowitz.

The candidate will work in collaboration with Drs. Packer and Moskowitz on social cognitive research examining when and how dissenting messages are persuasive. The focus will be on the role of a message recipient’s group identification, the framing and source (ingroup versus outgroup) of dissenting messages, with attention to underlying cognitive processes. Primary duties will include facilitating the recruitment of participants and collection of data, developing/designing experiments, scoring and analyzing data, and co-authoring manuscripts. There also exists the opportunity to pursue additional research, either in conjunction with any of the Lehigh faculty or independently.

The position is a one-year full-time contract position which includes salary and benefits. Applicants should submit a CV, a statement of research interests, three letters of reference, samples of scholarly work, and a cover letter detailing experience. The start of this appointment is flexible but will preferably occur between May and July, 2010. The candidate should have submitted a completed draft of a PhD in social psychology to their dissertation committee by May, 2010.
