The Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto seeks applications for its doctoral program in Organizational Behavior and Human Resource Management. The program is for those seeking research careers and interested in contributing to theory and knowledge in the area of management. The program was rated among the 20 best in the world in the most recent ranking of business schools by the Financial Times.

To maximize the development and productivity of our students, we place a strong emphasis on joint research with several faculty members. We have over 20 full-time and active faculty members trained at some of the world’s most outstanding institutions. Our faculty have a considerable breadth of research interests, including culture, diversity, emotional intelligence, ethical decision-making, groups and teams, justice, leadership, motivation, networks, performance appraisal, power and politics, selection, and training. Through collaborations with faculty, students have opportunities to learn various research methods, such as field surveys, laboratory experiments, event-contingent sampling methodology, network analysis, and qualitative research. A list of faculty members and links to their web pages and publications can be found at:

Funding for students is competitive, and tuition is covered by the school. During the program, students take seminars on human resources management, micro organizational behaviour, meso organizational behaviour, research methods, and quantitative analyses. Around the core courses, students select minor fields and additional course work at Rotman and in other departments. Our students in recent years have accepted positions at institutions such as the London Business School, the University of Western Ontario, Queen’s University, and the University of North Carolina. Our students have won the INFORMS dissertation proposal competition in two of the last three years and the dissertation proposal award from the HR division of the Academy of Management this year. While in the program, students have published in journals such as the Administrative Science Quarterly, the Journal of Applied Psychology, and Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes.

Toronto is a large creative and multicultural city that embraces diversity and has been ranked as one of the top places to live in the world.
