Dear Colleagues,

As part of a significant expansion of psychology, the social area at Brown University added one senior position last year and is now adding a junior position. We are also reuniting (after 20 years of separation) with the Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences Department. Exciting times! Please contact me with any questions.

SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY, BROWN UNIVERSITY: The Department of Psychology and the Department of Cognitive and Linguistic Sciences invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Social Psychology, beginning AY 2010/2011. Research focus is open, but we especially value programs of research that cross traditional boundaries of topics and methodology. Successful candidates have (1) a track record of excellence in research, (2) a well-specified research plan that is likely to lead to research funding, and (3) a readiness to contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentoring. All Ph.D. requirements must be completed before July 1, 2009. Brown has a highly interdisciplinary research environment in the study of mind, brain, behavior, and language and is establishing an integrated Department of Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences, effective July 2010. Plans to house the new department in a newly renovated state-of-the-art building in the heart of campus are well underway.

Curriculum vitae, publication reprints and preprints of most recent work, a 3-page statement of research and teaching, and three letters of reference should be submitted via email to SocialPsychSearch@Brown.edu, or else by mail to Social Search Committee, Department of Psychology, Brown University, Providence, RI 02912 USA. Applications received by October 20, 2009 are assured of full review. Position will be open until filled. Brown University is an EO/AA/ADA employer committed to cultural diversity and especially encourages candidates from traditionally underrepresented groups to apply.
