The Department of Psychology at Rutgers University--Newark Campus seeks an assistant professor for a tenure track position in Social or Cognitive Psychology.

Within the social area, special interest is in the areas of social cognition, psychology of criminology, health and coping, emotions and emotion regulation, and cross-cultural psychology. Within the cognitive area, special interest is in the areas of judgment and decision making, psycholinguistics, life span developmental psychology and gerontology.

Candidates in social or cognitive who combine basic and applied research and have strong quantitative and methodological skills are especially desired. The department is also interested in applicants who can collaborate across areas and with faculty in other departments and schools on the Newark campus.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. (or will have the Ph.D. upon starting) in psychology. Position responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate teaching, and academic advising. Rutgers/Newark psychology strongly emphasizes research.

The Psychology Department offers excellent research facilities, including individual lab space, in-house tech support, and an ample and well-organized subject pool. Rutgers/Newark is ranked among the top 15 small research universities in America, is located very close to New York City, and is situated within a close network of excellent research institutions. The campus is also home to schools of business, criminal justice, law, nursing, and social work
