 Effect Sizes in HLM

Hi all,

Is there any consensus on computing effect sizes for multilevel models?

Should I use the SD's for the unconditional model, the child SD (for student-level variables), and the class SD (for classroom-level variables)?

My thought is that using classroom SD will tend to inflate effect sizes, but I could be wrong.

Thanks for your time.
