PERSONALITY/SOCIAL AND/OR COGNITION/SENSATION & PERCEPTION: The Union College Department of Psychology anticipates one or more openings for a Visiting Assistant Professor in either Personality/Social Psychology or Cognition/Sensation & Perception, pending final administrative approval. The position(s) will be for two years with the possibility of a third year. Candidates should show a commitment to undergraduate teaching and an ongoing research program. Teaching responsibilities, although flexible, could include introductory psychology, statistics, research methods, and survey and upper-level courses in the candidate’s specialty area. Ph.D. by appointment date preferred.

Union is a small, private college founded in 1795 with a long history of excellence in the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering. Union is located in New York’s Capital Region, a mid-sized metropolitan area full of affordable, livable neighborhoods and interesting cultural and recreational opportunities. It is also about an hour from the Adirondack Mountains and about 3 hours from Boston and New York City. The Psychology Department has 11 full-time and three part-time members and graduates 50-60 majors per year. The College and Department seek faculty who are excellent teachers and will involve students in their programs of research. The Psychology Department also supports a neuroscience major and ongoing research in neuroimaging at Albany Medical College’s Neurosciences Research Center. The College offers generous support for faculty development in many ways, including travel funds and internal grants. Teaching load is two courses per trimester.
