Research Assistant

The Health, Emotion and Behavior Laboratory of Yale University’s Department of Psychology is looking to hire a Research Assistant (RA). The RA will work primarily on one large health cognition, communication, and behavior research grant with the research team consisting of: the Principal Investigator, Co-Investigators, postdoctoral researchers, research associates, research assistants, research aides, and consultants. The RA will be working directly with the research associate and the postdoctoral researcher.

Job Duties:

1. Assist in day-to-day research activities of research staff (e.g., data collection).
2. Draft, format and compile research materials in English and Spanish (e.g., surveys and brochures).
3. Oversee undergraduate research assistants and casual employees in their training, data collection, and data entry tasks.
4. Conduct literature reviews.
5. Manage datasets.
6. Work with other research staff to coordinate research activities with project consultants and community groups; follow up on tasks emerging from activities.
7. Work with other research staff to maintain up-to-date, organized, and accurate records of lab expenditures.
8. Work with other research staff to coordinate and maintain supplies, lab rooms, equipment, and research group schedules.
9. Coordinate tasks supporting the implementation of the research project.
10. Conduct clerical tasks (typing, filing, document organization).
11. Other miscellaneous project and research-related duties.

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

--Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field.
--Prior experience working in a psychology lab and in an office-type setting performing clerical-type tasks (typing, filing, document organization).

Minimum Skills/Abilities Required:

--Fluent in written and spoken Spanish.
--Excellent written and oral communication skills.
--Working knowledge of SPSS.
--Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email systems and the Internet.
--Exceptional organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.

Preferred:

Previous experience conducting research with underserved and community populations.

Other Requirements:

--Must have own car to travel to project sites.
--Must be willing to work outside of normal hours (8-4) on occasion, to accommodate community partnerships.
