Postdoctoral Fellowships in Alcohol and Addiction Research

and the Midwest Alcoholism Research Center

The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri (MU) has an opening for a POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOW IN ALCOHOL USE AND ADDICTIONS. Postdoctoral fellows will undertake advanced training in addictions and pursue their own research under the supervision of faculty preceptors. This 2-year position is funded by the National Institutes of Health (T32), and so the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field. Start date is negotiable but must be on or after July 1, 2008.

Faculty preceptors include: Bruce Bartholow (alcohol and social cognition, cognitive psychophysiology), Ken Sher (etiology of alcohol use disorders, college student drinking), Lynne Cooper (drinking motives, sexual behavior, adolescent risk-taking), Tim Trull (alcoholism and personality disorder comorbidity), Phil Wood (quantitative methodology of alcohol use), Wendy Slutske (behavioral genetics of alcoholism, pathological gambling), Tom Piasecki (tobacco dependence and withdrawal, alcohol X tobacco interaction), Denis McCarthy (alcohol expectancies, drinking and driving, behavioral pharmacogenetics of alcohol), Dennis Miller (behavioral pharmacology of nicotine and drugs), and Matt Will (behavioral pharmacology of appetitive behavior).

Previous experience with alcohol- or addiction-related research is not required, but a commitment to pursuing this research is critical.
