Title/Position: Professor of Communication
School/Organization: Stanford University
Sent to listserv of: SESP, SPSSI
Date posted: August 28th, 2026

The Department of Communication at Stanford University seeks applicants for a junior appointment at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. We invite applications from individuals working at the frontiers of media and politics, broadly defined, including candidates from all social science disciplines and related disciplines such as data and information sciences. While we place highest priority to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work, particular areas of interest include political communication, political economy, polarization, as well as the utilization of computational, experimental, or other quantitative methods.

Applicants must have demonstrated a commitment to effective teaching and mentoring and the ability to maintain a world-class research program. The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in a related field and will be expected to teach and advise students at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. The term of appointment is expected to begin on September 1, 2027.

Review of applications will begin on October 1, 2026; later applications may be considered at the discretion of the search committee.
