Ph.D. Position on Cultural Differences in Emotion Regulation
Center for Social and Cultural Psychology
University of Leuven, Belgium
The University of Leuven, Belgium, seeks candidates for a Ph.D. position on the project “Cultural Differences in Emotion Antecedent Regulation” (PI and advisor: Batja Mesquita). The project consists of multi-method experimental studies comparing emotion regulation in Belgian natives, Turkish natives, and Turkish Belgian bi-culturals.
The project is part of an interdisciplinary European network of excellence on emotion regulation in which social psychologists, psycho physiologists, and neuroscientists from different countries engage in dialogue and work together to achieve a more inclusive conceptualization of emotion regulation.
The successful candidate will work at the Center of Social and Cultural Psychology, which offers a international, productive, collaborative, and interactive environment with about 5 faculty, 15 other graduate and postgraduate students. He/she is expected to coordinate and further develop the research, and write a dissertation based on the research at the end of four years.
Payment and health care conditions are competitive. The position is offered for one year at first, but is renewable up to 4 years in total.
Leuven is one of the oldest university towns in Europe, about 20 kilometers from Brussels.
Applications will be considered immediately, and until the position is filled. Please, send a CV, a letter of motivation, and three references.
Further information can be obtained from Batja Mesquita, mesquita@psy.kuleuven.be, ++3216325868 (office), ++32472197698 (cell).
