Dear colleagues,
Bertjan Doosje, Wilco van Dijk, and I are currently working on a meta-analysis about the antecedents and consequences of intergroup or group-based emotions. We are particularly interested in the relationships between different appraisals, different emotions, and different forms of behavior (including behavioral intentions and action tendencies).
We are therefore looking for (yet) unpublished papers or studies that include measures and /or manipulations of:
(1) Group-based appraisal(s) and group-based emotion(s); and/or (2) Group-based emotion(s) and group-based action (or action tendencies, or behavioral intentions).
The term "group-based appraisal" can include, for example, perceptions of unfairness, threat, control, or attributions, all related to an in-group or an out-group, in a particular event. Similarly, the term "group-based emotion" refers for example to feelings of anger, fear, contempt, disgust, compassion, joy, again all related to an in-group or an out-group, in a particular event. Finally, "group-based action" (or behavioral intentions, or action tendencies) include, for example, offensive action against an in- or out-group, defense of the in- or out-group, action moving the self away from the in- or out-group, or action removing the in-group or out-group from the self.
