Game in Lab is a program that supports the production and dissemination of scientific knowledge on board games and their value at an international level. Game in Lab's mission is based on three pillars: support for research; dissemination of scientific knowledge; and events that bring together academic communities, board game enthusiasts, industry stakeholders, and the public.
As part of its mission to support scientific research, Game in Lab organizes an annual international call for proposals aimed at supporting scientific research projects on board games.
We invite international research teams to submit proposals on any research topic related to board games in a broad sense.
Disciplinary and interdisciplinary proposals, whether fundamental or applied, are accepted from any institution whose primary mission is scientific research. The call is open to international researchers until September 25.
Financial support is provided for research activities lasting up to 24 months. The maximum grant per project is €20,000.
Selection criteria:
- Public research laboratories are given priority. They may collaborate with other entities, whether public or private.
- When relevant, the application should include a presentation of the games being studied, particularly in the form of a detailed and reasoned ludography.
- Operating costs (e.g. small equipment purchases, travel expenses) and remuneration for temporary staff or interns are eligible for funding.
- Co-funding is encouraged.
