ADVANCE Program – Program Coordinator, Senior (Job #36125)

The University of Arizona is seeking applicants for the position of Program Coordinator, Senior of the ADVANCE Program. The job will be open until filled and review of applications will begin on September 18, 2006.

The goal of the National Science Foundation ADVANCE Program is to increase the participation of women in the scientific and engineering workforce through the increased representation and advancement of women in academic scientific and engineering careers. The University of Arizona's ADVANCE program has three themes: (1) fostering the scientific and leadership careers of women, (2) promoting responsibility among faculty and administrators, and (3) equipping the institution for sustainable transformation.

The program coordinator, senior will be tasked with:
*Coordinating the activities for the workgroups associated with each theme.
*Managing work flow.
*Overseeing daily operations including budget proposals and recommendations and controlling expenditures in accordance with budget allocations.
*Acting as liaison to university and community constituencies.
*Providing answers to questions and assistance to staff, faculty, students and others about the program.
*Developing and writing communication pieces including quarterly newsletters.
*Reviewing applications for program-related activities and positions.
*Ensuring conformity with the National Science Foundation reporting.
*Drafting periodic reports for NSF and recording program progress and status.
*Drafting other reports for UA management or outside agencies.
*Scheduling and preparing materials for meetings with internal and external groups.
*Providing other support to the program as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four years of administrative/coordinative program experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years of administrative/ coordinative program experience; OR, eight years of progressively responsible administrative/ coordinative program experience; OR, any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:
*Knowledge of issues pertaining to gender equity.
*Project management expertise.
*Experience working in a higher education environment.
