This year, Division 49 (Group Psychology and Group Psychotherapy) of the American Psychological Association will again sponsor an award for the best dissertation research on small groups. Anyone who completed a relevant dissertation during 2011 may compete. Dissertations may examine any type of group, use any methodology, and analyze any phenomenon.
Applicants should send a brief typed summary (five pages, double spaced) of their dissertation to Dr. Richard Moreland at the Department of Psychology, 3103 Sennott Square, University of Pittsburgh (15260), by the end of March, 2012. A committee will review these summaries and select three finalists, who must then submit complete copies of their dissertations for further review. The prize, which includes $1000, a plaque, and free membership in the division for three years, will be presented in August, at the APA convention in Orlando, Florida.
