| Assistant Professor: Social Work (community serv.) | | | | | | | Saint Martin’s University invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position to teach in the Community Services Department, Social Sciences Division, to begin August 24th, 2007. The successful candidate will have strong skills and experience in direct social services, be an outstanding instructor of undergraduate students, and have a commitment to continued professional growth. Saint Martin’s is a Catholic, Benedictine university dedicated to undergraduate education, but also supporting professional programs in social work, counseling, education, business and engineering. This faculty member will be expected to teach Interviewing skills; Marriage and Family; Social Psychology; Intercultural Communication; supervise social work internships, and other courses in psychology, sociology majors, and women’s studies minor, if possible. Advises and mentors students, takes part in faculty governance and participates in the University community. Masters in Social Work and Ph.D. in Social Work, Psychology, or closely related field required. Excellent teaching skills; commitment to undergraduate education; understands the process by which students learn professional standards of work skills and ethical behavior; broad knowledge of social work history and development of U.S. social policy, preferred; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all members of the University community; ability to make and nurture contacts in the surrounding social service community, preferred. Candidates must be supportive of a Catholic, Benedictine philosophy of education.
