POSITION SUMMARY The purpose of this position is to investigate the perception (both from a fundamental and consumer perspective) of technologies in order to meet the business objectives. This requires multidisciplinary academic training (e.g., psychology, neuroscience, sensory science, statistics), strong quantification skills, familiarity with psychophysical and consumer research practices, and experience with experimental design and data analysis. RESPONSIBILITIES --Lead strategic planning, design, coordination and execution of perception/consumer studies that lead to better understanding of consumer perception/acceptance --Develop overall strategy to understand perception and how it can be impacted by various factors --Implement strategy by designing and conducting studies with the most appropriate methodology and data analysis technique --Manage/oversee all study aspects: experimental design, study execution, statistical analysis and reporting of results --Work closely with scientists from other science areas, such as clinical, measurement, formulation, sensory, data science, bioscience, as well as global counterparts, on study planning, test execution and result analysis --Outsource, coordinate and monitor external studies as determined by project objectives --Collaborate with leading academics/professionals, scout for new perception and consumer research methodology --Effectively communicate results in an accurate and timely fashion, including issuing topline and scientific reports and giving presentations to science area and project teams --Supervise and mentor staff SKILLS & COMPETENCIES Education: Ph.D in cognitive, behavioral or social psychology, consumer research, or market research with emphasis in complex data analysis and modelling Experience: Two or more years experience in industry settings after Ph.D. preferred. Experience with variety of methodologies for the measurement and modelling of human response and choice. In particular, experience with testing and modelling of higher cognitive factors such as context, brand proposition, expectation, etc. Skills: Experimental design and all aspects of study planning and execution Data modelling using all major classes of “pattern recognition techniques” (regression-based techniques, unfolding techniques and clustering techniques) as well as hypothesis testing.
