DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY, OKLAHOMA STATE UNIVERSITY is inviting applications for a full-time, tenure track position for an Assistant Professor specializing in Social Development beginning August 2007 (pending final budget approval). We seek applicants to join our Lifespan Developmental Psychology Program with expertise in any stage of life, including infancy, childhood, adolescence, and any area of the adulthood, including the oldest old. Successful applicants will be expected to maintain an active research program, demonstrate potential to secure extramural funding, direct doctoral students, and contribute to undergraduate education. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology by the time of appointment.

The Department has 22 full-time faculty members and offers Ph.D.s in lifespan developmental psychology and clinical psychology. The lifespan developmental psychology area contains faculty studying all areas of the lifespan, from infancy to older adulthood. The Department offers training to a diverse graduate and undergraduate student body (30% minority enrollment) of approximately 50 doctoral students and 500 undergraduate majors. The Department has been nationally recognized for its programs supporting diversity. Normal teaching load is two courses per semester. Competitive salary and start-up funds are available.

Stillwater, Oklahoma is an environmentally clean, safe, pleasant city of 45,000 located in north central Oklahoma, approximately 70 miles from both Oklahoma City and Tulsa. Stillwater public schools were recently selected as one of the “100 Best Public School Systems in America.” The cost of living is low, and there is ample affordable housing.
