The Department of Psychology at NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY beginning Fall 2007. A Ph.D. degree is required (in hand by hire date). Research specialization is open, although the applicant’s research and interests should complement the department’s strengths in research in social, cognitive, and engineering psychology. Current faculty research interests related to social psychology include attitudes, attribution, emotion, cross cultural psychology, gender, social judgment and decision-making, and social cognition. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in research. A demonstrated capability for conducting externally funded research is desirable. Candidates’ ability to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries would be a plus. Social Psychology faculty teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of expertise. The ability to teach undergraduate courses in clinical or social development would be a plus. Faculty members also serve on and chair masters’ and doctoral students’ committees.
