I/O FACULTY POSITION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA--ORLANDO

THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA (UCF), Orlando campus, seeks to fill a position in I/O PSYCHOLOGY in our Ph.D. program in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Applicants at either the Assistant or Associate rank are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the Ph.D. in industrial and organizational psychology or a closely related field by the beginning of the Fall 2007 term. Specialty area within I/O psychology is open. Currently, there are 8 I/O faculty members in the Psychology Department and 3 psychologists in the Management Department. The I/O Ph.D. program was ranked number one in overall productivity during 2001-2004 according to a study presented at SIOP in 2005 by Zhadnova, Carpenter, and LeBreton. For further information contact Dr. Barbara Fritzsche at bfritzsc@mail.ucf.edu.

The department is the largest in the College of Arts and Sciences with 45 full-time faculty members, over 2600 undergraduate majors, and nearly 150 Ph.D. graduate students in Clinical, Human Factors/Applied Experimental, and Industrial/Organizational Programs. UCF currently has an enrollment of over 45,000 students and is located near downtown Orlando on a 1200-acre campus within one hour of the Atlantic Ocean, Kennedy Space Center, Disney World complex and other entertainment and cultural attractions. Within the university and locally, there are numerous opportunities for collaboration with other academic departments, UCF institutes and centers of excellence, mental health organizations, government research agencies, entertainment centers, and the aerospace industry. A Medical College has been approved and will have its first class in Fall, 2008.

We are an energetic, collegial, and diverse faculty interested in candidates who show clear evidence of programmatic research, the ability to attract, mentor, and teach both graduate and undergraduate students, and a commitment to the scientist-practitioner training model. All applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree by the beginning of the 2007 Fall term. The area of research is open, but we seek scientists who have an expressed commitment to the application of their findings to real-world settings. Preference will be given to candidates whose research programs complement without overlapping existing faculty research areas. Additional expertise in quantitative and research methodology is also sought. Candidates at the rank of Assistant Professor must have the potential to develop a nationally recognized and fundable research program with evidence of teaching effectiveness. Candidates at the rank of Associate and Full Professor are expected to have nationally or internationally recognized research credentials and established records of teaching experience at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Compensation for the 9-month academic appointments is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The preferred start date is August 2007.

All applicants should submit a letter of interest outlining their research and teaching interests (including future research plans), a current Curriculum Vitae, reprints of recent exemplar publications, and three letters of reference. The deadline for applications is November 1, 2006. Send application materials to the address below. Informal inquiries concerning these positions are welcome and encouraged. Please visit UCF’s website at http://www.ucf.edu for additional information about the university and its programs. UCF is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer and particularly encourages applications from women and members of minority groups and protected classes.
