The Department of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts is inviting applications for a faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in the Social Psychology Division with research interests in the Psychology of Peace and Prevention of Violence. The starting date is Fall 2007. Information about the social psychology program is available at:

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, an active research program and an excellent record of empirical research and academic scholarship. Of particular interest is expertise on such topics as intergroup conflict and conflict resolution, justice, dominance and subordination, political action, aggression and violence, prejudice reduction, social inclusion, post-conflict healing and reconciliation. Ideal candidates would also demonstrate a commitment to bridging basic and applied approaches, conducting research in real world settings, and/or translating findings for practitioners and policymakers.

The concentration in the Psychology of Peace and Prevention of Violence is a developing program and candidates should be interested in helping to shape its future.
