Postdoctoral Research Assistant (level RA 1A)

A postdoctoral research assistant post (level RA1A) is available from September 2006 until September 2009 in the Department of Experimental Psychology at the University of Bristol, UK. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Angela Rowe, Dr. Ian Penton-Voak, and Dr. Casimir Ludwig on a research programme funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

The research programme aims to develop a clear model of the way that adults with different attachment styles process facial expressions of emotion. Across three sets of studies we aim to test two competing emotion processing models to resolve a controversy in the adult attachment literature. The project examines whether adults of different attachment styles (a) are differentially sensitive to perceptual cues in emotional faces; (b) vary in the attentional strategies they use to process facial expressions of emotions; and, (c) differ in overt biases toward or away from emotional expressions. The post-holder will be in charge of the day-to-day running of the project. Duties will include setting-up a participant pool for the experiments, the generation of experiments, all participant testing, data entry and statistical analyses, the write-up of papers for publication and dissemination of results at conferences .
