A strong program of research and a commitment to undergraduate teaching are necessary. Teaching responsibilities could include: introductory psychology, personality psychology, social psychology, statistics, and a seminar in the area of expertise; as well as supervising honors research. In order to interface with our interdisciplinary programs, we are particularly looking for someone who has expertise in one or more of the following areas: neuroscience; cultural or ethnic diversity; prejudice; psychology of women. Ph.D. by appointment date preferred. Applications will be reviewed starting December 15, until the position is filled. Union is a small, private college founded in 1795 with a long history of excellence in the liberal arts, sciences, and engineering. Located in scenic upstate New York, Union is just south of the Adirondack Mountains, and is within 3-4 hours of New York City, Boston, and Montreal. The Psychology Department has nine full-time and four part-time members and graduates 60-70 majors per year. Teaching load is two courses per trimester. The College and Department are concerned with excellence in teaching and ability to involve students in an ongoing program of research. As part of our Neuroscience major, the Psychology Department maintains a research presence at Albany Medical College’s new Neurosciences Research Center which houses a state of the art 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner.
