The Department of Psychology at the University of Massachusetts is inviting applications for two faculty positions in the Social Psychology Division with research interests in the Psychology of Peace and Prevention of Violence. The starting date is Fall 2006. We are particularly interested in candidates at the Associate Professor level, but candidates at other points in their career are welcome to apply. Candidates should have an active research program and an excellent record of empirical research and academic scholarship. Of particular interest is expertise on such topics as intergroup conflict and conflict resolution, social identity, justice, social dominance, intergroup contact, aggression, altruism, mass violence or genocide, post-conflict healing, community building, and reconciliation. Research experience in real world settings is desirable. The unique program in the Psychology of Peace and Prevention of Violence is in its developing stages and candidates should be interested in helping to shape its future. Salary commensurate with background and experience.
