Applications are invited for a full-time research position, to start no later than September 1, 2005 for a period of 3 years, working with Russell Spears, Tony Manstead and Colin Leach on an ESRC-funded project investigating the emotions schadenfreude and gloating in a Welsh-English intergroup context. The project forms part of ECRP European network on intergroup emotions with sister projects in the Netherlands, Belgium and France. The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting a series of experimental studies in lab and field. The successful candidate will ideally have a good first degree psychology and/or masters degree (ideally in social psychology). Knowledge of and interest in intergroup relations, social identity, and emotion, would be an advantage, as would a good command of design, experimental methods, and statistics.

Salary: £19460 - £21640 per annum (It is not expected to appoint above £19,460)
